The Egyptian presidency announced that President Abdel Fattah al - Sisi had agreed with Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtan Lamamra to fully support Tunisian President Saeed in Tunisia & apos political crisis.

A statement by the presidency following a meeting between El-Sisi and Lamamra said: "In this regard, agreement has been reached with a view to fully supporting President Guis Said of Tunisia and all that can be done to maintain stability in Tunisia and to enforce the will and choices of the fraternal Tunisian people in order to preserve their capabilities and the security of their country."

Earlier, Egypt called for the avoidance of escalation and violence against State institutions in Tunisia, emphasizing its confidence in the wisdom and ability of the Tunisian presidency to overcome this crisis.

"Egypt is following developments in Tunisia with interest," said Egyptian foreign spokesman Ahmed Hafez.

In a post via the Ministry's official Facebook account, the spokesperson said: "Egypt expresses its full solidarity with the fraternal Tunisian people and their legitimate aspirations and trusts in the wisdom and ability of the Tunisian presidency to cross the country from this crisis as soon as possible."

He stressed "the need to avoid escalation and to refrain from violence against State institutions in order to preserve the interests, security and abilities of the fraternal Tunisian people." He commended the role of the Tunisian national institutions in maintaining the security and stability of the country and looked forward to the Tunisian brothers overcoming all challenges and proceeding towards a better future.
