During his visit to Egypt, the issue of blocking the renaissance, strengthening economic relations between Cairo and Beijing and confronting the Corona epidemic were high on the agenda during the visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Egypt.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al - Sisi, the Chinese Minister for Foreign Affairs, met to reaffirm Egypt's firm position on the preservation of its water security, as reflected in its historic rights to the waters of the Nile, by reaching a legally binding agreement to fill and operate the Nahda Dam in the interests of all.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of China expressed his country's full understanding of the paramount importance of the Nile River to Egypt and therefore continued its interest in finding a solution to that issue in a manner that would be in the interest of all parties.

The Egyptian President stressed Cairo's desire to improve the overall strategic partnership between the two countries, particularly since the current year coincides with 65 years since the establishment of Egyptian-Chinese diplomatic relations.

On Sunday, the Foreign Ministers of Egypt and China signed an agreement to establish the Joint Governmental Cooperation Committee.

China became Egypt's top trading partner for the eighth consecutive year since 2013, and trade between the two countries exceeded $14.5 billion in 2020.

New investments reached $190 million last year to exceed $1.2 billion, according to Chinese Cairo Ambassador Liao Li Qiang.

My thanks emphasized the importance of China's position on this issue, which has a major bearing on Egypt's interests and on its national security.

In his view, however, China would not venture to put forward an initiative or mediation to resolve the crisis to block the renaissance, especially since Chinese diplomacy is not active in regional conflicts and far from geopolitical areas, and it may consider that the introduction of such initiatives could be lost by what it believes to be one distance from all.

President El-Sisi commended the coordination that had taken place at the highest levels since the outbreak of the Corona pandemic and the signing of the Agreement on the Joint Industrialization of the Sinovac Vaccine in Egypt, which would support the national strategy for the settlement of the pharmaceutical and vaccine industry in Egypt.

Egypt is set to start vaccinating its citizens with the locally produced Sinovac vaccine this August.
