During his meeting with the Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the European Union in Brussels, the Egyptian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry, stressed the need to reach

an agreement on "blocking the renaissance." He also presented the outcome of the recent meeting of the Security Council, expressing Egypt's appreciation for the recent statement by the European Union, in which he criticized Ethiopia's declaration to begin the second filling of the dam without reaching an agreement with my downstream State, while stressing his demand for the importance of a road map for a just and binding agreement within a specified time frame. "

The spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, noted that "the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the European Union have discussed in depth aspects of bilateral relations between the two sides and exchanged views on a number of regional files and issues of common interest."

It was noted that "the meeting demonstrated the strategic nature of the close relations between Egypt and the European Union, which is Egypt's leading trading and investment partner. The importance of ensuring greater coordination on regional and international issues of mutual interest, increasing trade and attracting more European investment to Egypt was also addressed.

Hafez explained, "In addressing a number of cases, my thanks have reviewed Egypt's successful efforts to stop any flows of migrants from its coast since September 2016, as well as its hosting of some 6 million migrants and refugees. He also presented the positive developments taken by Egypt to promote human rights situations at the political, economic and social levels. "

On the other hand, my thanks go to the Palestinian question, the file of the peace process and the need to move it forward and create international momentum in order to advance a just and comprehensive settlement. Egypt continues its efforts to achieve peace and stability based on the framework of the two-State solution, as well as to work towards the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and to provide assistance and development support to all parts of the Palestinian territories in cooperation with the Palestinian National Authority Authority.

The meeting also addressed the Syrian file and an exchange of views on the matter, as well as developments in the situation in Libya. The meeting stressed the importance of holding elections on 24 December and of leaving all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya without delay or exception.
