The United States of America sold 2 million Iranian barrels of oil from the Akelias tanker, which was detained near the UAE coast last February, according to judicial documents, today Tuesday.

According to documents, oil was confiscated on the basis of American laws, as the United States considered that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, a terrorist organization in the United States, had attempted to sell oil to China.

According to documents, the U.S. government moved the tanker to Houston, Texas, where it sold 2 million barrels of oil for 100 million dollars.

Washington claimed that the crude oil on the Greek "Akelias" was secretly exported by Tehran to avoid US trade sanctions.

The U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit in a US court in February, alleging that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard was hiding the source of the oil, making it look as if it was from Iraq.

The "Akelias," known as the "Very Large Crude Oil Tanker," is reportedly located about 100 kilometers off the coast of Texas near Houston.

The U.S. Department of Justice ordered the ship to sail to the United States, before Biden succeeded former U.S. President Donald Trump on January 20.

According to the United States agency, the Government of the United States President, Joe Biden, described the attempt to seize 2 million barrels of oil on a Greek-owned tanker as "an act of piracy."

The spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Saeed Khatib Zada, told reporters in Tehran that "the shipment belongs to the private sector" without going into further details.
