On the seventh anniversary of the release of Operation Dignity, which succeeded in restoring security and eliminating extremist groups in large parts of the country. The Brotherhood loyalists in Libya were seriously shocked.
Sources revealed that the Brothers are determined to prevent direct election of the Head of State by the people at the scheduled date of the elections next 24 December, and are seeking in various ways to pass a clause in the constitutional rule governing elections, which provides for the selection of the President through the next House of Representatives.
Sources suggested that the military parade had increased their determination to pursue this path, after the military parade had received considerable follow-up from the Libyan people, in particular the words of Army Commander-in-Chief Marshal Khalifa Haftar, who spoke of the readiness of the armed forces to move to "impose peace" by force if it was impeded.
Libyan political scholar Al - Hadi Abdulkarim said that the "brothers" strongly rejected the direct presidential election because they feared the popularity of Marshal Khalifa Haftar, despite attempts to distort him by their local and international media, and that he would win the presidency if he ran.
The Libyan political dialogue was held on 26 and 27 May in order to discuss the constitutional basis for the elections. However, because of the differences that had taken place in the country, it did not end up being agreed.
