In a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said that Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed the need to stop practices that undermine peace and fuel

violence between Israel and the Palestinians, including in East Jerusalem.

The statement added that my thanks met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah and discussed "ways to build on the declaration of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to strengthen the necessary measures to maintain stability and permanently de-escalate the entire Palestinian territory."

They had also explored "ways to provide an enabling environment for the urgent revival of the peace process."
