For more than a month, the Turkish army has been carrying out focused attacks against Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) fighters who are barricaded in the Nussa areas of the
border "Solid Mountains," between Turkey and the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Dozens of border villages belonging to the northern region of Batifi are being bombed by various types of Turkish aircraft.
The Turkish army has been carrying out an extensive military campaign in that area, called "Claw," since mid - April. It is the third military operation of the Turkish Army from early in the year.
It should be noted that the current Turkish military operation, involving approximately 5,000 troops from the commando sectors involved in mountain battles, is supported by heavy air cover, particularly from marching warplanes, which almost never lose sight of the fighting, to prevent PKK fighters from moving and repositioning during the night.
According to Turkish official statements, its military operation is aimed at eliminating PKK camps in the mountain areas of Ava Chin and Juakurk. It would be a first step to stabilize the military points and later extend towards the main party camps in the Jandal Mountains.
Dozens of villages in the border area are an exceptional oasis of national and religious coexistence among different Iraqi identities. They are also a major source of food for natural food. Grazing, fertilizer-free horticulture and the construction of hulls that produce the best honey in the world continue to cause that area to remain a nature reserve.
