Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced today that Russia will respond to any unfriendly steps by the United States.
In his meeting with his Kazakh counterpart, Lavrov commented on the expulsion of two Russian diplomats: "That's hard to comment on. We'll respond to any unfriendly steps, which is obvious. So far I haven't seen any specific steps, nothing's been announced. I read reports that the U.S. administration has completed a review of Russia's hostilities. Somehow they did it quickly. "
Lavrov continued that "Russia is aware that the United States has secretly asked the Allies to transmit flight data to them after announcing its withdrawal from the Open Skies Treaty."
The Russian Minister noted that the United States and its allies were unreliable and unreliable partners, considering that "the United States statements on its willingness to build predictable relations with Russia seem unconvincing and Moscow awaits concrete action."
Lavrov added: "We know with certainty that during all those months following the announcement of their withdrawal from the Treaty, the Americans persuaded their allies to pledge to transfer such data in a hidden and confidential manner."
