Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan accused Iran of implementing a sectarian and population change plan in Syria, demanding that it stop doing so.
"A political settlement under the supervision of my nation is the only solution to the Syrian crisis, which is the condition of contributing to its reconstruction," he said.
During a previous press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Riyadh, Prince Faisal said that Saudi Arabia supported any efforts to bring Syria back to its "Arab lap."
The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia stated that "the Kingdom stresses the importance of continuing to support efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis in order to ensure the security of the fraternal Syrian people and protect them from terrorist organizations and sectarian militias that impede the achievement of genuine solutions that serve the fraternal Syrian people."
Prince Faisal added that "the Syrian settlement requires that the solution be political from the point of view of the Kingdom, which is needed by the political crisis," noting that "it is primarily up to the parties to this issue and requires that the Syrian regime and the opposition agree on a political solution."
Prince Faisal bin Farhan concluded: "We hope that the existing efforts will find solutions in this direction. This country deserves to return to its Arab home and enjoy stability, peace and security. We will support any efforts that serve this direction."
