The Saudi Defense Ministry has published a video and photos documenting the first moments a group of its air forces arrived to participate in military exercises in Greece.
The clip showed Saudi F-15 fighters arriving at the Greek base of Soda on the island of Crete to take part in the "Saqqar1" exercise.
The commander of the exercise, Colonel Rahman bin Said Al-Shehri, indicated that the air force participating in the joint Saudi-Greek exercise had arrived at Suda base.
He explained that the exercise was aimed at "supporting joint cooperation between the Saudi Air Force and the Greek Air Force, sharing experiences between the two sides and raising combat readiness."
It should be noted that "the Saudi and Greek air forces will carry out their sorties in the Mediterranean sky," in training scheduled for days.
Saudi Arabia decided to send six "F-15" fighters to the Greek Soda base on the island of Crete. Saudi Arabia will conduct exercises with F-16 and Mirage fighters of the Greek Air Force.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan commented on the joint military exercises between Saudi Arabia and Greece. " We'll look into this with the Saudi authorities. "
He continued: "For Saudi Arabia and its joint manoeuvres with Greece, we regret and mourn that these exercises are not appropriate for Saudi Arabia's participation.
This was preceded by statements by the Turkish Foreign Minister, Ould Jawesh Oglu, in which he alluded to his country's efforts to improve relations with Riyadh.
