The Indian army announced on Friday that five soldiers were killed in the Indian-administered area of Kashmir, in an explosive device attributed to rebels in the disputed region.

 Japan's Ground Self-Defense Forces have recovered what appeared to be the sixth body from the victims of an accident involving an SDF helicopter off the country's southernmost Okinawa Prefecture, local media reported.

 A gas leak in an industrial area in the city of Ludhiana in the northern Indian state of Punjab has killed eleven people and four others have been taken to hospital, but the source of the gas leak remains unclear, police told The Press Trust of India news agency.
