The number of coronavirus infections in Morocco has risen significantly for two weeks, with the indicator published by the Ministry of Health touching 3,000 daily average.

As the holiday season and family gatherings began during Eid al-Adha, parties and travel, health experts warned of a dramatic rise in the number of coronavirus infections in the country

For its part, the Moroccan Ministry of Health was quick to issue a number of recommendations, stressing the need to adopt a reminder dose of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine for the elderly and people with chronic illnesses.

A statement from the ministry said that this decision comes within the framework of "immunizing the gains made by our country in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and in the light of recent developments characterizing the epidemiological situation."

In this regard, the Ministry, acting upon the recommendations of the Scientific Committee, invited persons above 60 years of age, in particular, as well as persons under 18 years of age and suffering from chronic immune-impaired diseases, to take a reminder dose of the vaccine against the virus six months after receipt of the enhanced third dose. "

The ministry also called on people who are not fully vaccinated to expedite a third enhanced dose four months after the second dose, noting that people newly confirmed to have COVID-19 can receive a reminder dose four weeks after the end of the infection period.
