After a massive test campaign following the detection of one infection in a neighboring city, Zhuhai, southern China, stopped public transport bus lines, after it announced that at least 7 cases of omicron mutant from the corona virus had been monitored, warning residents not to leave the city.
The coastal city on the boundary with the Macao region declared that the Omicron mutant was monitored by a person with mild disease symptoms and 6 others with no symptoms.
China is facing a surge in COFID-19, including several cases of omicron mutants, as it intensified its fight against HIV ahead of next month's Winter Olympics in Beijing.
Millions of people across China have been asked to stay home in recent weeks, while many domestic flights have been cancelled and factories closed.
Zhuhai officials asked residents to avoid leaving the city "except when necessary," with those who would like to leave providing a negative result of the "Koveed-19" test conducted in the 24 hours preceding departure.
The city began a massive testing campaign for its 2.4 million people after an injury was discovered in the nearby city of Chongshan earlier in the week.
Commercial activities, including beauty salons, facilitator's venues, sports clubs and cinemas, have been instructed to close, while authorities have announced the suspension of public transport bus lines.
The Chinese authorities said they recorded 104 COFID-19 injuries.
