Today, news agency data showed that global corona virus infections have reached a record level over the past seven days, as the Omicron mutant has spun out of control, leading to the survival of residents in homes.
An average of 90000 cases were detected every day worldwide between December 22 and 28, with countless countries recording their highest ever levels in the past 24 hours, including the United States, Australia and many countries in Europe.
Almost two years after China first alerted the World Health Organization (WHO) to a series of anonymous cases of viral pneumonia in Wuhan City, the regularly mutated corona virus continues to cause chaos, forcing many governments to rethink quarantine and testing rules.
Although studies have indicated that Omicron is less lethal than some previous lineages, the large number of people found infected with HIV means that hospitals in some countries may be overcrowded, while companies may struggle to continue because workers have to be quarantined.
In his statements, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Gebresos said that "Delta and Omicron are now double threats that raise cases to record numbers, resulting in a sharp rise in hospitalization and mortality."
He added: "I am very concerned that Omicron, being fast-moving and spreading at the same time as Delta, is triggering a tsunami of cases."
