In an effort to vaccinate citizens and foreigners living in the country over the age of 40, the Tunisian authorities are organizing an open day of intensive vaccination against the new corona virus.

The Tunisian Ministry of Health expects that this open day will see between 500,000 and 1 million citizens vaccinated against the epidemic.

Three million ians in this age group (+ 40) are involved in receiving the first dose of vaccination in various parts of the country, with 333 vaccination centres in health centres, schools and secondary schools.

Tunisia is keen to win the challenge of organizing this open day of intensive vaccination, having witnessed a failed trial of intensive vaccination on Eid al-Adha, owing to chaos and violence.

The confusion of vaccination has further spread the infection and exacerbated the health of  ians, prompting President Qays Said to issue a decision mandating the Military Health Department to oversee the vaccination file.

Anis Qluz, member of the Scientific Committee to Counter the Corona Virus, said that 8 August marked the beginning of an open and intensive vaccination campaign, followed by other operations for younger age groups.

"Vaccination was limited only to the elderly and those with chronic diseases, because of the scarcity of vaccines after they were available, we seek to vaccinate half of the ians by 15 September before returning to school," said Raffla Taj, Chancellor of the Ministry of Health and member of the vaccination committee.

The Tunisian President, Qais Saeed, in a speech called on ians to take up vaccinations heavily, so that life could return to normal in all sectors.
