In the country's highest daily incidence since the epidemic began, Iran has recorded more than 37 thousand new corona virus infections.
Iranian State Television has announced that health workers have recorded 37,189 infections of the Corona virus causing the Covid-19 epidemic since Sunday, a daily toll higher than Tuesday's high of nearly 35,000.
Iran recorded 411 deaths, bringing the total to 91,407, the largest toll in the Middle East.
The mutated delta strain is the cause of the surge in the number of infections, while Iranian officials say less than 40% of the population is obliged to wear muzzles and socialize.
Health officials have regularly warned that hospitals in Tehran and major cities are packed with corona virus infections.
In a letter from Iranian Health Minister Saeed Namki to Iranian mentor Ali Khamenei, the minister demanded the country be closed for two weeks.
Nimki added that the army would help implement the closure, but Khamenei had not yet responded.
The Iranian authorities had avoided imposing strict rules on people who were unwilling to deal with them.
Iran, which suffers from the worst epidemiological situation in the region, is reported to have several problems at the same time, including severe US sanctions, international isolation, a hot wave, the worst power outages in some time, as well as protests against water shortages in the southwest.
