After an increase in the number of Corona virus infections, Chinese authorities closed the city of Guangzhou, southern China, to a neighborhood and ordered residents to stay home to undergo Corona virus testing, which upset authorities.

And for the last week. Guangzhou, a commercial and industrial centre with an estimated population of 15 million, reported 20 new infections.

Although the number of casualties compared to thousands of daily cases in neighbouring India was small, it disturbed the Chinese authorities, who thought they had put the disease under control.

Health authorities were quoted as saying that the spread of infection was "fast and strong."

The test order was applied to residents of 5 streets in the Liyuan area of downtown Guangzhou, to the north of Hong Kong.

Open markets, childcare centres and entertainment places were also closed, as was a ban on eating inside restaurants, while schools were informed of the suspension of students' personal attendance.

In parts of four neighbouring areas, citizens were ordered to limit outdoor activity.

It is reported that China reports a few new cases every day, but states that it believes that almost all of them have been injured abroad.
