Something that would reduce the logistical burden of vaccination campaigns. The European Medicines Agency (EDA) announced news about the cold-save period for the vaccine, Pfizer and Bayontek, against the new corona virus.

The European Medicines Agency has been recommending that the vaccine be kept in the fridge, which is not open, for only five days, but the health authority has extended it to a full month.

The European Commission was recommending that the vaccine be kept in very low temperature, up to 70 ° C and 80 ° C below zero, and when only a few days remain for use, the vaccination can be placed in a normal medical fridge.

The Agency explained that the vaccine, which is not open, can be preserved in a refrigerator with temperatures ranging from 2 to 8 degrees Celsius, for a period of between 5 days and one month.

The Agency reported that it had conducted this audit, based on the evaluation of additional data, stressing that flexibility in storage would have a positive impact.

That flexibility would contribute positively to the distribution of the vaccine to European Union member States.

This recommendation comes as a medical study recently revealed that leaving a 12-week time margin between the two doses would enhance the immune response of older persons.

According to a study by researchers from the University of Birmingham, the antibody response of those over the age of 80 was three and a half times better, when the period between the two doses extended to 12 weeks.
