The Indian authorities allowed COFID-19 vaccines to be granted to all adults in the country, hoping to curb a sharp and vicious increase in the incidence of the disease.

The country's federal government issued an order launching a campaign to vaccinate all adults in India from the age of 18, after the authorities' preventive measures only included vaccinating those over 45.

India, the world's largest vaccine producer, continues to require vital supplies, as a result of delayed manufacturing processes and shortages of raw materials, which have delayed vaccine production in many states.

A very limited proportion of India's population can afford the prices claimed by the country's private hospitals for the vaccine, which means that state and federal governments will be responsible for immunizing 900 million adults.

To date, 125 million people have been vaccinated with the first dose of vaccines, representing 9% of the population, of which 27 million have received the second dose, or 2%.

India has set a new world record in the numbers of new infections, with an index of 401993, bringing the total number in the country to more than 19.1 million.

The country has recorded 3523 confirmed deaths over the past 24 hours, bringing the toll of Kovad-19 victims in India to 211,853, according to Ministry of Health statistics.
