Britain seems to have achieved remarkable success in its fight against the new corona virus, having managed to control the outbreak and even pushed it back significantly.

Indeed, the British programme against the Covid-19 epidemic began to break the link between infection and serious illness or death, according to the latest findings from an ongoing study of the pandemic in England.

Researchers at the Royal College of London found that Covid-19 infections declined by 60 percent in March, while national closures slowed the outbreak.

Persons aged 65 or older were the least vulnerable to infection as they were the largest beneficiaries of the vaccination programme, which initially focused on the elderly.
The study also found that the relationship between injuries and deaths is changing "suggesting that injuries may have resulted in fewer hospitalizations and deaths since the beginning of widespread vaccination."
The positive news came amid renewed criticism of vaccinations following a review of the British government's guidance Wednesday to offer people under 30 years of age an alternative vaccine to the AstraZeneca vaccine wherever it is available.

The change followed studies that concluded that the vaccine may be associated with extremely rare blood clots.

British Health Minister Matt Hancock said that the authorities had warned and rested to make sure that the spread of vaccines was as safe as possible should reassure people.

"What we have learned over the past 24 hours is that the spread of the vaccine is successful, and we have seen that the safety system is effective, because even regulators can observe this extremely rare event, 4 1 million, and take the necessary action to ensure that the spread of vaccines is as safe as possible," he added.

He stressed that the spread of vaccines was effective, breaking the link between injuries and deaths.

About 31.7 million people had received the first dose by Tuesday or more than 60 percent of the adult population.
