Following a violent political crisis against the backdrop of a secret deal to purchase the new Russian anti-corona vaccine Sputnik V, Prime Minister Igor Matović of Slovakia and his government were forced to resign.
The crisis erupted when a secret deal unfolded early in March, involving Slovakia's approval of 2 million doses of Sputnik in Russian anti-Corona vaccine that had not been approved in the European Union.
The Prime Minister has completed the deal, despite disagreement among his coalition partners and disagreement among some parties.
In recent days, six cabinet ministers have resigned to force the head of Government to step down.
The Government of Slovakia would thus become the first European Government to collapse because of its handling of the epidemic, but that step would keep the current coalition of 4 parties in power and avoid the possibility of early elections.
President Zuzana Kabutova accepted the resignation of the Government and asked Edward Heger, a member of Matović's party, to form a new Government.
