A scientist who leads research into the mutated corona strain first observed in Britain, said the strain, discovered a few months ago, "has become the dominant" and causes 98 percent of the country's infections.
According to Sharon Peacock, the British Corona strain, known as "P. 1.1.7," appears to be spreading significantly, in some 100 countries where it has been observed over the past few months.
he Director of the Quvid-19 Institute for Genome Studies, which monitors HIV mutations, added: "It's 50 percent more widespread, which is why it's becoming prevalent in the country."
During an online statement to the Royal Society of Medicine: "We now know that it's spread across the UK, causing almost all cases of CO-19, by 98 percent."
The scientist noted that "other breeds of Corona seem to be disappearing from Britain."
