The Syrian presidency announced today that President Bashar al - Assad and his wife have been infected with the new corona virus, explaining that their condition is stable and they will continue to operate during the period of domestic quarantine, which will last for two or three weeks.

The presidency published a statement today:

"After feeling mild symptoms similar to those of COFID-19, President Assad and Ms. Asma Al-Assad conducted a PCR test, which showed that they were infected with the virus, being in good health and stable conditions, and would continue their work during their home quarantine period of up to two or three weeks."

The Syrian presidency added:

"President Assad and Mrs. Asma wish the safety and well-being of all Syrians and all peoples of the world against HIV/AIDS, and call upon all Syrians to continue to follow the measures of caution and prevention as far as possible."

She concluded: "President Assad and Mrs. Asma pay tribute to all medical personnel working on the first lines of HIV response and mitigation."
