The Netherlands National Statistics Office reported today, Tuesday, that the number of deaths in the country recorded the highest rate since World War II this year, due to the Corona pandemic.

The office revealed that as of last week, the Netherlands had recorded about 162 thousand deaths, which is about 13 thousand more than what is expected in a normal year, and said, "We have not recorded such an increase in the number of deaths since World War II." The statistics office indicated that "the number of deaths During the first wave of the Corona pandemic, between early March and early May of this year, it increased from the usual rate by about 9,000 people, while more than six thousand additional deaths were recorded since the start of the second wave in mid-September.

It is worth noting that the Netherlands has recorded about 770,400 cases of Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, while the number of deaths in the country due to this virus has reached about 11,000.
