Kiumars Pourahmad 16 December 1949 – 5 April 2023) was an Iranian film director, screenwriter, film editor, and film producer.

On the morning of 5 April 2023, Kiumars Pourahmad committed suicide by hanging at his home in Bandar-e Anzali. He was at his 73.

    On Wednesday, the famous Iranian director Kiyumruth Pour Ahmed committed suicide at the age of 73, leaving behind an artistic legacy full of works over four decades, and grief and questions surrounding the reasons for his suicide.

Iranian news agencies reported that the police of Gilan province found a letter written in his handwriting revealing that he had committed suicide in the house where Port Ahmed died.

Activists and bloggers shared the news of the suicide of the well-known Iranian director, Kiyumruth Pour Ahmed, with shock and sadness.

Iranian writer Ahmed Zaidabadi said in a short article he posted on his channel on the "Telegram" platform that Port Ahmed became immortal in the memory of Iranians through his artistic work "Stories of Majeed" produced in 1990 based on a book of the same name by Iranian writer Hosheng Moradi Kermani. The TV series tells the life of an Iranian boy named Majeed who lives with his grandmother.

Zaidabadi added that the suicide of an artist of this age and at such a prestigious level "represents a serious warning to society," warning at the same time of the spread of depression and misery among Iranians.

In an interview with the Iranian agency "ISNA", Mehrdad Pour Ahmed, the brother of the Iranian director, Kiomrth Pour Ahmed, said that his brother traveled to northern Iran ten days ago to spend the "Nowruz" (Iranian New Year) holiday, saying that they were talking on the phone every night. Except last night.

Bur Ahmed's brother was surprised by his suicide, stressing that he was in good health, commenting on the news of his suicide by saying: "We do not know what happened and whether this news is true or not?"

Kumruth Pour Ahmad is one of the most famous and prominent film directors and producers in Iran during the last four decades, leaving about 30 artworks, from serials to cinematic films.
