The US Treasury announced today, Tuesday, that it has imposed new sanctions on 6 groups and 4 ships linked to North Korean coal transportation.

"North Korea continues to circumvent the United Nations ban on exporting coal, which is a major source of income that helps fund its weapons of mass destruction programs," said US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin.

"The North Korean regime often uses forced labor from concentration camps in the mining industries, including coal, and exploits its people to promote illegal weapons programs," he added.
