    Microsoft announces that they dismissed out of 10,000 jobs which consider 

less than 5 percent of its total workforce.

The reason behind the dismission decision was "in response to macroeconomic conditions and changing customer priorities," the maker of the Windows operating system said in a U.S. regulatory filing.
