At the sessions of the Yemen International Forum held in Stockholm, Sweden, the Director of the World Bank's Yemen Office, Tanya Meir, said that the Bank had developed an assessment of many sectors in Yemen, and that the cost of reconstruction of the war was estimated at $25 billion.

Mir's statement said the bank was concerned about the fragility of the complex crises in Yemen, so he decided to increase the programs and provided funding of $1 billion over the past year to maintain the institutions he supported before the conflict.

Mir stressed the importance of those institutions and productive sectors, such as the fisheries sector, continuing to operate to support the country's economic stability.

The Director of the Yemen Office at the World Bank added: "We focus on the resilience of the private sector and the potential role it can play in reconstruction programmes."

In the same vein, European Union Deputy Director of the Middle East Department, Carl Halegaard, said in the plenary that the international community was interested in the Ukrainian war and that weak States, including Yemen, had been affected, yet progress was being made in the country.

"We are keen to support Yemen, which has been affected by the Ukrainian war. It is important to open roads in the country, and their continued closure hampers the ability of the European Union to support the economy ".

For his part, the Director-General of the Strategy of the Saudi Programme for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen Adel Al-Qasadi stated that there is a need to see an economic recovery that does not depend on donors' contributions to Yemen, adding: "We need to link the humanitarian and development pathways, and it is necessary to depart from the framework of perspective to engage effectively in Yemen."
