following Western attempts to stop what it feared would be the start of a full-scale Russian invasion.
World standard Brent crude contracts climbed during the session to $99.50 per barrel, the highest level since September 2014, before recording $96.84 at the adjustment, up $1.52 or 1.5 percent.
U.S. ore contracts for West Texas Intermediate also recorded the highest level in seven years with $96 per barrel before closing at $92.35, up $1.28 or 1.4 percent from Friday's closing level.
