By storing 69 percent of total maize, 60 percent rice and 51 percent wheat, the U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed that Chinese food stocks are growing in 2022, adding

that Beijing may buy half of the world's food reserves according to Mikai Asia.

According to experts, China has increased its reserves by 20 percent over the past 10 years, stressing that these figures are so high that there is fear of higher food prices.

The Russian newspaper "Izvestia," quoted experts as saying that "China's great appetite for grain purchases is leading to a further decline in global supplies and creating conditions for a prolonged rise in food prices."
