A source has announced a rise in the price of natural gas in Europe, today at more than 8% close to its highest level ever, coinciding with a decline in the flow of Russian gas into Germany via the Yamal-Europe pipeline.

According to a news agency, the rapid rise in gas prices in Europe in 2021 caused energy prices to rise, raising concerns about the adverse impact on inflation, and leading to the bankruptcy of some companies in Britain.

German data showed that gas flows declined, as Russian company Gazprom began filling the second line of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline with gas last Friday, raising concerns about the supply of energy to Europe.

ICIS analysts said: "The decline in gas flows to northwestern Europe, via the Yamal-Europe pipeline, one of the three main pipelines, coincides with the start of Nord Stream 2 packing, as well as the beginning of winter in Russia."

Flows at the "Mallnow" measurement point at the German-Polish border fell to about 370.000 kWh, compared to over 1,200,000 kWh on Saturday, and over 10,000,000 kWh on Friday.

Flows through the Yamal-Europe pipeline, a major export route for Russian gas to Europe through Belarus, averaged between 9.000.000 and 12.000.000 kWh this month.

Gazprom said: "The company provides gas in line with consumer demands and in full compliance with existing contractual obligations."

Russian gas giant Gazprom did not reserve the gas needed to supply Europe for December, but purchased the required amount of daily auctions and auctions.
