Through three exploratory wells operated by the Italian company Eni, Egypt announced, this evening, the discovery of new sources of oil and gas in the country's Western Sahara.

In a statement via Facebook, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Wealth said that the Italian company had made three new discoveries in Maliha and Southwestern Maliha concessions areas, in Western Sahara, which include petroleum, gas and condensed discoveries.

The Ministry noted that the discoveries in the melee development concession were made through the Jasmine Wells "W1-X" and "MWD-21," which the company dug into a safety zone south of Deep near the Deep West MWD field.

The Jasmine Well is located at a distance of 5 km west of the Jasmine field, and production tests resulted in a production rate of 2,000 barrels per day of light ore and 7 million cubic feet per day of associated gas.

According to the statement by the Ministry of Petroleum, the MWD- 21 well, which was already linked to production, produced a stable production rate of 2500 barrels per day of crude oil.

The Ministry explained that the company had made another discovery in the Southwest Malleha concession, through the SW M-4X well, 35 kilometers south of the Malleha field. Tests revealed a production rate of about 1,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

According to the Ministry, my total confirmed reserve resulting from the three newly discovered wells amounted to about 50 million barrels of petroleum resources, and each of the three wells adds a total production of about 6000 barrels of oil.

The statement commended the Italian company's efforts, saying that these discoveries reflected the continuation of Eni's successful search strategy near the fields, which the Egyptian Ministry said would provide a quick return on investment by linking the discoveries to existing production facilities.
