Brian Madderson, president of the British Petroleum Retailers' Federation, warned that millions of Britons would not be able to drive their cars or use transportation because of a serious fuel crisis for fuel stations.

Madderson stated that the fuel crisis was likely to worsen before any solution appeared to be on the horizon, noting that the consequences would affect emergency agencies and State and private institutions, as their workers would not have access to their work sites.

In recent days, long queues of various types of vehicles have begun to line up in front of fuel stations in the hope of filling their tanks with even small amounts of fuel. The problem has been exacerbated by a wave of panic, which has caused the owners of the vehicles to rush and squeeze to obtain any amount of fuel.

MPs in Britain propose requesting army assistance as a temporary short-term solution to the problem of a shortage of petrol truck drivers, while fuel station owners and retailers are warned that they have only 10 days to get the required amount of fuel for the Christmas season next December.

The British Federation of Retailers warned that the "rescue" of the Christmas season would not be possible unless the serious shortage of heavy-duty truck drivers was solved, and the Federation estimated that the number of drivers required was about 90.
