In an event the first of its kind, the price of gas on the European market for the first time in history exceeded the $850/1,000 cubic meter barrier, according to trading data.

The price of gas in European futures continues to break indexes, at the opening of trading it exceeded the threshold of $830 per 1,000 cubic metres, and after minutes the barrier exceeded $ 850 per 1,000 cubic metres, according to trading data.

The cost of the October gas futures, according to the Dutch TFF index, at the beginning of the trading session was $ 851.27 per 1,000 cubic meters.

The price of gas is growing at an accelerated pace in Europe for several reasons, relating to the low level of reserves of North-Eastern European reservoirs, the weather situation, as well as uncertainty with the launch of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

The price of gas in Europe set a record in the trading session last Friday, when it reached $ 710 per 1,000 cubic metres.
