HSBC is the tenth life insurance company in Singapore with no health insurance activities.

HSBC Holding then stated in a statement that the amalgamated unit of HSBC Life Singapore and AXA Singapore will be the seventh largest life insurance company and the fourth largest individual health insurance company in Singapore with over 600 thousand life, health, real estate and injury insurance policies.

HSBC Holding therefore agreed to acquire the assets of French insurer AXA in Singapore for 575 million as part of a strategy to expand wealth management activities in Asia and increase fee income.
