As part of a money-laundering investigation, the largest seizure in Britain to date, British police confiscated £180 million ($250 million) worth of cryptocurrency.

"Today's confiscation is another milestone in this investigation, which will continue for months to come as we focus on those at the heart of the suspected money-laundering operation," Detective Inspector Joe Ryan said.

The large seizure follows another $114 million worth of cryptocurrency on 24 June. A 39-year-old woman was arrested by the police on suspicion of money-laundering offences.

Data from Queen Shields Digital Asset Management showed that cryptocurrency funds and products experienced a decline in capital flows at the beginning of the second half of the year as caution continued amid a summer slump in transactions.
