The Israeli shekel retreated 1.4 percent in the evening after "unprecedented" attacks by Palestinian factional rockets targeting Tel Abel.
The exchange rate of the Israeli shekel in evening transactions was 3.29 to the dollar, down from 3.252 at the start of the transactions on Wednesday morning.
"Unprecedented" rocket attacks were carried out by Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip, targeting the city of Tel Aviv, resulting in Israeli deaths and dozens of casualties in the initial toll, as well as material damage.
Sirens sounded throughout Israel, from Ashdod south to Haifa north.
The Israeli Civil Aviation Authority announced the suspension of all flights from Ben-Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv against the backdrop of intense rocket bombardment, and all aircraft were diverted to Greece and Cyprus, before the airport was subsequently reactivated.
