In the archaeological Cemetery of qweisna in Menoufia governorate, Egyptian archaeologists discovered ancient tombs, dating back to different eras, and containing mummies with Golden tongues, by the Egyptian archaeological mission of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and antiquities.

During the current excavation season, scientists have succeeded in uncovering an extension of the qwesna archaeological cemetery, which includes archaeological tombs dating back to different periods of time and contains a number of mummies.

Mustafa Waziri, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, said that the mission also found a number of gold chips in the form of human tongues in the mouth of some of the mummies discovered.

The British newspaper "Daily Mail" reports that experts believe that "the tongues of real mummies were removed during mummification and replaced with gold foil, so that the deceased could talk to the god Osiris in the afterlife".

Ancient legends say that the god Osiris is among the most important gods of ancient Egypt, calling him the"Lord of the underworld" and the judge of the dead.

On the other hand, skeletons, remains of wooden coffins on the human body and a number of copper nails used in those coffins were found in the tombs.

The site of the qwisna cemetery is one of the most important archaeological sites in the Delta, as it includes burials of multiple eras, including a rare cemetery for the burial of "sacred birds" and a number of architectural units built of brick pulp.
