The ministry said that Russian air defense systems destroyed seven cruise missiles, and a Russian reconnaissance ship destroyed all boats.

"As a result of being hit by hostile cruise missiles, two ships that were under repair were damaged,"the ministry said.

For his part, the governor of the city of Sevastopol appointed by Russia Mikhail razvozaev said that Ukraine carried out a missile attack on the port of Sevastopol on Wednesday, which led to a fire at the shipyard and injured at least 24 people.

"All emergency services are working at the site, there is no danger to civilian objects in the city,"razvozzaev stated.

The construction and repair of ships and submarines of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, which launched cruise and missile attacks on Ukraine, is being carried out at the strategic Sevastopol shipyard on the Crimean Peninsula, which Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014.

Razvozzaev posted a picture of flames rising in the dark engulfing what appeared to be infrastructure at the port, and Russian channels on "Telegram" posted videos and more photos of the huge flames at a facility adjacent to the water.

Ukraine has never publicly claimed responsibility for attacks inside Russia or on Russian-controlled territory in Ukraine, but in recent months it has been saying that the destruction of Russian military infrastructure helps in its counterattack.

In a related context, the Russian media agency (RIA) quoted the head of the Russian state nuclear energy company as saying on Tuesday that Ukraine launched a drone attack on the Russian-controlled city of enerhodar near the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.

Alexey Likhachev, the head of the company "Rosatom", said that six drones were fired at enerhodar and all of them were destroyed.

The city is located in territory in southeastern Ukraine controlled by Russia, which has sent tens of thousands of troops to war in Ukraine over the past 18 months, and the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe, is also in Russia's grip.

Later on Tuesday, Ukrainian military intelligence released a video of the drone attacks, saying that " Ukrainian special forces and members of the resistance in enerhodar congratulated the invaders on the holiday," referring to the day when Russia celebrates employees of migration services.

Ukrainian intelligence reported shelling of a building in enerhodar where Russian passports are currently being issued and two locations where 12 Russian troops are stationed, and said a radio communication point had been "neutralized".

The Russian-appointed governor of Sevastopol on the Crimean Peninsula said on Wednesday that Ukraine launched a missile attack on the coastal city in the early hours of the day, and Russian air defense systems participated in repelling the attack.

Mikhail razvozzaev said via Telegram that the missile attack caused a fire at an " uncivil facility."

The scale and other details of the attack were not yet known, and there was no immediate comment from Kiev.
