     Earlier in the week, Ms. Haley wrote on her official Twitter that she intends to run for the 2024 president role.

“I’m Nikki Haley, and I’m running for president," she stated in an online video released on her website and Twitter account.

Her official announcement now comes months after Donald Trump revealed in November 2022 that he would seek the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.

Haley referred in her video of launching her campaign, that the time came for true change, or as she called generation change.

"It’s time for a new generation of leadership, to rediscover fiscal responsibility, secure our border, and strength our country, our pride, and our purpose," she stated.

By her announcement in Charleston, S.C., Haley, 51, is the first Republican candidate other than Donald Trump to join the race.
