Both Saudi Arabia and Iran have begun to take another important step on the way to officially restoring diplomatic relations, as diplomatic missions will begin operating in two other major cities — Mashhad in Iran and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
Iranian media reported, on Monday, that Tehran has appointed Assistant Foreign Minister Ali Reza Enayati as its new ambassador to Saudi Arabia, more than two months after the two countries announced the resumption of relations between them.
An Iranian official announced on Sunday that President Ebrahim Raisi had received an invitation from Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz to visit the Kingdom, following the reconciliation agreement between the two countries.
