A fire in a small gold mine in southern Peru has left 27 people dead, authorities said on Sunday, in the country’s single deadliest mining accident in more than two decades.

At least 24 people died in northern Peru after a bus carrying 60 passengers plunged off a cliff early on Saturday, police said.
The death toll raised to 60 people since the breakout of protests in the country by the Peruvian police; the ombudsman’s office declared.
