Egyptian scientist, president of the first American Conference on genomics in Africa

 

The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology has agreed that Egyptian geneticist Haitham Shaaban, along with two US scientists, will take over the presidency of the Federation's first ever conference on the continent of Africa, with the aim of discussing and transferring the latest findings of Science and in particular the role of advanced inexpensive technology in this field to the African continent.

Scientists announce rough draft of human pangenome

 A collection of DNA that represents the genetic information from 47 individuals, the pangenome dramatically expands upon the original human genome reference.
