The Americas official at the World Health Organization, on Tuesday, said that Latin America and the Caribbean recorded more than 50% of the world's corona infections, a quarter of them in Brazil.

The Regional Director of the World Health Organization, Carissa Etienne, pointed out that Latin America and the Caribbean now constitute 50% of COVID-19 cases in the Americas, and that the number of cases recorded is increasing.

"This pandemic has amazing proportions and we have no choice but to continue to use all our energy to control it," she said at a hypothetical press conference from Washington.

Two months ago, the United States accounted for 75% of COVID-19 cases in the Americas, warning that the World Health Organization sees cases accelerating in many US states, most of Central America and most of South America.
