The US State Department on Tuesday expressed concern about the fate of Chinese Professor Xu Gangron, demanding the Chinese government to release him.

Well-informed sources indicated that more than 20 people took Professor Xu Jangrun from his home on the outskirts of Beijing.

Wushu, a law professor at Tsinghua University, is well known for his public criticism of the Chinese government, which is rare in academic circles that are tightly controlled in China, and he published a topic last March, in which he held the Chinese president’s misleading and censorship policy responsible Corona virus outbreak emerging in China.

One of his friends said that a person who identified himself as a policeman, called Xu's wife, who lives in a separate place from him in a university residence, to inform her that Xu had been arrested on suspicion of involvement in "facilitating prostitution in Chengdu," southwest of the country.
