President Vladimir Putin said Russia could become one of the world's leading players in the field of artificial intelligence.

Speaking at an artificial intelligence conference titled Artificial Intelligence Journey, President Putin said: “The demand from our institutions and companies that share state capital must be very strict. I consider the ability to ensure and enhance the technological capabilities of the country the most important criterion for its effectiveness. "The weight and importance of future work is immense. I am convinced that we can and must become one of the leading players in artificial intelligence in the world."

President Putin stressed that this is a question of the future of the country and its place in the world.

"We can really do this, taking into account the potential of our national schools in mathematics, physics and other fine sciences, as well as in the humanitarian field," Putin said.

The conference will take place on 8 and 9 November in Moscow. Participants will discuss several issues in this area, including the implementation of the National Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence, which was approved by the Russian President a while ago.
