UKRAINE LAUNCHES MASSIVE DRONE ATTACK ON RUSSIAN BASES IN SIBERIA

KYIV – In a bold and unprecedented operation, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) launched a large-scale drone strike on multiple Russian military bases in Siberia on June 1, 2025. The attack, codenamed “Spider’s Web,” targeted several key air bases, including Belaya, Dyagilevo, Ivanovo Severny, Olenya, and Ukrainka.

According to reports, over 40 Russian military aircraft were damaged or destroyed in the attack, including Tu-95 and Tu-22M bombers, as well as A-50 aircraft. The estimated damage is valued at around $7 billion, approximately 34% of Russia’s strategic bomber fleet.

The drone attack coincided with preparations for the second round of peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, scheduled to take place in Istanbul. Ukraine’s proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, mutual prisoner release, and a high-level summit between Presidents Zelenskyy and Putin is set to be discussed during the talks.

Russia acknowledged the attacks, stating that they had repelled the assaults in most regions but suffered fires in two areas. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
