Workers Strike Over 30% Wage Hike Demand

The Telugu film industry has come to a standstill as thousands of workers across various departments have gone on an indefinite strike, demanding a 30% salary hike. The strike, which began on August 4, has brought all movie shoots to a halt, putting both small-scale projects and big-budget blockbusters at risk.

Key Demands of the Workers:

– *30% Wage Hike*: The Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation is pushing for a significant increase in wages, citing the rising cost of living and the need for fair compensation.

– *Same-Day Payments*: Workers are also demanding that producers make payments on the same day, rather than delaying them.

– *Written Assurance*: The federation wants producers to provide written assurance that they will comply with the revised pay structure.

Impact on the Industry:

The strike has affected numerous productions, with some projects already facing significant delays and cost escalations. The stalemate between producers and workers has led to a complete halt in shooting, with only productions that comply with the revised pay structure being allowed to proceed.

Producer’s Response:

The Telugu Film Producers Council and Chamber of Commerce have offered a 5% wage hike, which the workers’ federation has rejected. The producers are yet to respond to the workers’ demands, leading to an uncertain future for the industry.

As the strike continues, the Telugu film industry remains in limbo, with thousands of workers waiting for a resolution to their demands. The situation is being closely watched, with many hoping for a swift resolution to the stalemate.
