Bayern Munich interim coach Hans Flick said defender Javi Martinez would be absent for at least six weeks due to a muscle injury he suffered in the 2-0 win over Wolfsburg, in the German first division, on Saturday.

The 31-year-old Spaniard was injured in the right thigh and replaced before the break in half.

"Khafi will be absent for at least six weeks. He has suffered a severe muscle injury," Flick told reporters.

Bayern added in a statement on his website that Martinez will miss the training camp for the team between the fourth and tenth of January, and there are doubts regarding his attachment to face his host Hertha Berlin next month when the German league resumes after the winter break, Reuters reported.
