After the launch of the rocket was postponed twice earlier today, India successfully carried out the first rocket launch as part of its upcoming manned orbital mission .

The head of the Indian Space Agency, Sridhara Somnath, explained that first the launch had to be postponed due to weather conditions, and then the rocket computer

suspended the automatic launch due to a technical malfunction.

After the launch, the crew module successfully separated from the rocket and landed in the waters of the Bay of Bengal.

In December 2018, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved a mission named “gaganian” to send an Indian crew into orbit. According to the program, the first manned

flight should be preceded by two flights without a crew on board the rocket.

The plan of the first flight assumed the detachment of the crew unit from the rocket at an altitude of 17 kilometers and its descent into the waters of the Bay of Bengal, to be

picked up there by Indian Navy personnel.

The timing of the launch of the first manned mission depends on the success of the test flights, and the Indian Space Agency noted that preparations are being made to launch

the mission in 2025.
